Bancroft, Ontario is the best place to rent a cottage in Ontario, but it is seriously underrated and under-explored. Muskoka, Kawartha Lakes, Tobermory, and Wasaga Beach are all common places Ontarians go for local vacations. Packed with great shops, restaurants, and parks, we see why these towns have become popular places for cottage rentals in Ontario. Although these locations are top destinations, don't underestimate the beauty of Bancroft. Located between Toronto & Ottawa, it is the perfect destination to escape the city and reconnect with nature. What are the top things to do in Bancroft? Let's explore!

You can figure out your meals when you get there and follow your cravings! Foodland & No Frills are large grocery stores in the heart of town. Both stores have a great selection and convenient operating hours, making grocery shopping easy. Don't feel like cooking? No problem! There are many restaurants to choose from in Bancroft from the local Bancroft pub, the Granite restaurant for fine dining, fast food options, fish & chips, cafes, or stop by a local food truck throughout Bancroft.

Endless Adventure

The possibility of adventure is endless. Bancroft is home to over 150km of offroading & snowmobile trails and hundreds of hiking trails. Bring or rent a boat, jetski, canoe or kayak, snowmobile, snowshoes, ATV, and more! You will often see a group of snowmobilers or ATVers in town grabbing a coffee or lunch. Bancroft is also centrally located to a lot of great destinations such as Algonquin Park, Burleigh Falls, Barry's Bay, Sir Sam's Ski Hill, and Silent Lake Provincial Park. Abundance of Wildlife

Wildlife enthusiasts and photographers visit Bancroft for its abundance of Canadian wildlife. Home to over 50 mammals, 200 species of birds, and 50 species of fish, Bancroft's wildlife does not disappoint. Bears, moose, fox, elk, deer, beaver, eagles, and loons are some of the many species that call Bancroft forests & lakes home. Bring your hiking shoes, cameras, and patience. You never know what you might spot!

Enjoyable Commute

There is nothing worse than starting your cottage vacation sitting in hours of traffic. Avoid the bumper-to-bumper traffic on the 401 & 400 and come to Bancroft!  From Toronto, cruise along the 407 to Highway 115 N to ON-28 N.
